I guess it takes an effort of abstraction in Lake Ashi... once you make it and you're not distracted anymore by the people (always taking pics of each other), the loud funny voices from the speakers and all the tourist stuff you can concentrate on the dreamy "out of this world" location, the mist, the details - even those on a fake pirate boat.

:lol: Your description takes me back! I was lucky and went in the rainy season so it was pretty empty and the foggy wet air made for a very dreamlike world, but they still had that crazy boat cruising around!

Perhaps in a family-entertainment or sunday tourist perspective all that could work... even the pirate boat with the cartoon-like loud voice soundtrack. But I think a magic place like that would deserve a different treatment.
