Luca is a fine art photographer working in Fabriano, Italy. He began shooting in the 1980s with 35mm film cameras. In the ’90s, his extensive traveling—mainly to the USA—further increased his desire to make photography a bigger part of his life. A few years ago he decided to “go pro” and began working for stock photo agencies.

After not feeling satisfied with shooting stock, Luca turned his more artistic eye to the fine art market, allowing him to be more free in his self-expression. He fell in love with the “imperfect” optics of Holga and Diana cameras, but was found himself moving toward hi-tech digital cameras.

When he happened upon the Lensbaby, he found what he calls “home.” Even though he started with the Lensbaby 2.0, after a while he chose the Original Lensbaby; he is now experimenting with the new Lensbaby lenses, the Composer and the Muse with their set of interchangeable optics, still using his full-frame Canon d-SRLs, currently an 1Ds Mark III and a 5D Mark II.

As of January 2009 Luca is contributing photographer for Arcangel Images (Malaga, Spain) and Farmboy Fine Arts (Vancouver BC, Canada)

Exhibition, Japan trip and other things...

Mood: Artistic

Two of my early Lensbaby photo works (from Nice, France, 2006), Promenade and Deco Shades, are going to be included in the Visions Intemporelles collective exhibition (Galerie de la Tour de l'Horloge - Château des Ravalet - Tourlaville, France, oct. 25 - nov. 9 2008).

Many thanks to Bruno Mercier for inviting me.

I won't be able to attend to the vernissage though because over those very days I'll be (back) in Japan. This time I'm going to see Kyoto, then explore the southern side then back to Tokyo where I'll meet again old friend Mike Lalande - hopefully we'll do some more shooting in those beautiful locations.

I discovered Facebook recently - i like it. This is me over there.

That's all for today...should definitely start packing. Hope summer was good for you all.

Sir, your work with the lensbaby is inspirational and has convinced me to invest in my own. I've been working primarily in film recently, doing a lot of Holga, but digital is luring me back
